The Lake District provides a stunning backdrop to a number of events, whether they be up in the hills or next to the many lakes and rivers. When it comes to the following 10 music festivals in the Lake District, fans can see both local and international artists in some wonderful locations.
25th to 26th May – Ireby Festival
The Ireby Festival attracts award winning folk acts Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, along with Eliza Carthy and the Wayward Band to this years’ festival.
29th June to 1st July – Cockermouth Live!
Variety is definitely available in Cockermouth, from chamber music to ukulele workshops. Afternoon jazz is on the cards, while local rock bands turn up the volume in the evening.
26th to 29th July – Kendal Calling
With the 2017 headlined by the likes of Manic Street Preachers and Stereophonics, Kendal Calling is one of the bigger festivals in the Lake District. If you don’t want to camp in a muddy field, you can always compromise by putting up your tent in a hotel with private gardens.
11th to 13th August – The Lake District Folk Weekend
If you’re staying at a hotel in Windermere and looking for things to do, then the Folk Weekend is in easy reach. There are a few locations, all situated in the nearby village of Stavely.
24th to 26th August – Solfest 2018
Dub Pistols, Newton Faulkner and one man band Beans on Toast played Solfest in 2017 – keep an eye out for who gets booked in 2018.
24th to 26th August – Wannasee Penrith
Tribute bands from across the Lake District, the UK and beyond imitate all your favourites at Wannasee in Penrith.

This community event certainly brings everyone in the Lake District together. If you fancy spending some time with the locals, rent a cottage in Windermere and get a feel for life in the Lakes.
