As well as the usual things to do in the Lake District, March 2019 has some rather special events to look forward to. There’s everything from the Keswick Film Festival to treating your dear old Mum on Mother’s Day.
Keswick Film Festival – 28th February to 3rd March
Given February is a short month, the Keswick Film Festival drops into the first couple days of March 2019. With the prestigious Osprey Short Films award up for grabs, it’s the chance to see some up and coming director. The event has also seen a number of high profile guests over the years, as well as special screenings of some old classics.
Words by the Water – 8th March to 17th March
If you’re looking for things to do in the Lake District, March 2019 to give you inspiration then there’s Words by the Water. The literacy event brings together locals, visitors to the Lake District and some published authors. All with a love of putting pen to paper. During your cottage break in Windermere, sit in the garden and embrace the outdoor, you could soon become the next William Wordsworth.
Cumbria Life Home and Garden Show – 15th March to 17th March
Have a day out in Penrith, although best to buy a ticket for the Cumbria Life Home and Garden Show in advance. This popular annual event returns mid-March, taking place at the Rheged Centre. It’s the chance to search for new ideas on how to decorate your home, with a number of trade stalls and demonstrations.
Spring Beer Festival – 22nd March to 23rd March
The Hawkshead Brewery invites you to sample not only their own ales, but that of other breweries in the area. There’s even a chance to try a couple of home brews. In total expect a selection of around 80 different beers. Although even if you don’t fancy drinking, or are being sensible and only sampling a couple there’s other entertainment on site too. Check the official website for further information and if you miss it this time around, there’s always the summer festival instead!
Celebrate Mother’s Day – 31st March
You could always treat your mother to a cottage break in Windermere, giving her the chance to experience our boutique cottage first hand.
