With the summer behind us, it’s time to think about what’s on in the Lake District this October. If you’re staying at Windermere spa cottage, then there’s more than just a welcoming hot tub on offer. After all, the nights may well be cooler, but it’s still perfect weather for getting out and about. Just remember that if you’re going for a walk in Windermere, you may want to pack some warmer clothes. Sleekerswim Dip in the Dark – Friday 5th October
While staying in a Windermere Spa Cottage, you can enjoy a dip in your own private hot tub. Alternatively take a late night swim with the Sleekerswim Dip in the Dark. Taking place at Fell Foot Park on the 5th October. Swimmers can register up to the end of September, or you can turn up on the day to show your support.
The Lakes International Comic Art Festival – 12th to 14th October
Featuring comics from around the word, the Lakes International Comic Art Festival is a great alternative to a regular comic-con event. As such there should be a wide selection of art work to look at. So, head over to Kendal during the weekend, after all it’s only a short drive from your Windermere Spa Cottage.
Wasdale Head Shepherds' Meet and Show - 13th October
Just one of many country shows in the Lake District, the Wasdale Head Show is the perfect chance to meet some 4 legged friends. Much like other country shows in Cumbria, this one can be dated back over 100 years.
The Winter Droving – 27th October, Penrith
If you’re looking for a scenic drive in the Lake District this October, then travel from Windermere to Penrith. There are a number of events on during Winter Droving. Live music in the evening comes in the form of the impressive Electric Swing Circus. If you arrive early enough you can also find local produce at the Cumbrian Food and Craft Market.
Keswick Ghost Walks – October, Keswick
As Halloween will soon be upon us, there are some spooky goings on in the Lake District this October. Throughout the month are a number of ghost walks near Windermere, down the road at nearby Keswick. If it all gets a bit much, you can always find comfort back in the hot tub at your Windermere spa cottage.
